
STEP 1: Book an RTA Learner Rider Course on 132213. Mention that you want to learn on a scooter instead of a motorbike if that is the case. The course is run at RTA rider training centres over 2 days for 3.5 hours per day and costs $68.
The RTA provide the scooter and helmet. You will be taught how to ride a scooter safely from scratch and once completed you will obtain a Rider Competency Certificate.
STEP 2: Book an RTA Learner Rider Knowledge Test. This multiple choice test is done at your local RTA. You can study the test questions at www.rta.nsw.gov.au or in your Motorcycle Handbook.
Once you pass the test you have your L's and are able to start riding your scooter on the street.
STEP 3: After a minimum of three months and before 6 months, book in for the Motorcycle Operators Skills Test and once you pass this you will obtain your P's. These are valid for 6 months. If you are over 30 you will go straight to a full license.
