Vespa PX 215cc

From a Bondi Beach Bather to PX Street Burner.

Living it’s entire life by Bondi Beach without wearing any protection, this PX was suffering from an extreme case of cancer. With a rusted through frame it was time for me

to overhaul and save this Bondi Beach Bather.

The first job was weld in a new floor to re- strengthen this Vespa’s monocoque chassis .

Once the new floor was painstakingly welded into position, it was time to bring to fruition the tuning and customising concepts the customer dreamed of; from an enormous rear wide tyre conversion, to the 215 cc cylinder which was given the SS treatment flowing through a the stainless expansion pipe hanging off to the left, right down to the subtle CNC calliper to help her stop, are to name a few.

With a luscious coat of gun metal grey, this Vespa has been reborn; and she won’t be lazily sitting around Bondi Beach anymore, as she will be leaving our shores to burn up the winding roads of New Zealand.

Vespa SS90- Double

With two of the rarest and coolest Vespa’s made in the SS Scooter  workshop, the opportunity to photograph them could not be  missed. With Sandy’s unmolested and unrestored SS90, sitting next to Tony Dunham’s beautiful and  meticulously restored SS90 made for a rare and beautiful sight on a steamy  Sydney summers day.

Vespa PX 200 Street Racer

With an initial brief to turn his every day ride into a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”, this machine quickly went the opposite direction when just before the build the owner went for a “full-on” orange veneer.

With the stainless SIP expansion pipe hanging out the side, the Garelli carbon mudgard out front and the bright red Bitubos keeping her on the ground; all point directly that this is a wolf, inside and out.

She is definitely not disguising the fact that she is not only a tyre burner but also a work of street racer art to hit the roads from SS SCOOTER!

Vespa Street Racer with NOS

After 2 years of planning, painting and building Sandy’s (owner and head mechanic at S.S Engineering) Vespa Street Racer is now finally rebuilt and ready to tear up the roads again. However this time she has been finished off with a high reflective virtual titanium paint. With further refinements in breaking, handling, power and esthetics have not only reinforced this Vespa’s pedigree and street-cred as a brutally fast machine but have also reinforced Sandy’s love affair with this gorgeous machine.

Body: Worb 5 drop bars, digital speedo, digital tacho, Billet master cylinder, full hydraulic Billet front disc brake, semi-hydraulic rear disc conversion, front tubeless rim, rear wide tire kit with 130x70x10 tire, rear Bitubo, front BGM damper, STO spring and SIP sport seat.
