Spring is here- time to ride!

spring
Our latest rebuild is about to hit the road ready for spring.
This Vespa has been given a new lease of life.  It’s owner rides it almost 5000km annually. And in the last few years it has suffered its fair share of knocks.  She has chosen gorgeous  teal green, and with 12v electrics and retro fitted indicators  her beloved VBA has been revamped and ready to hit the Sydney roads  again.

Vespa GS 160 MK 1

This GS 160 MK 1 is  now a world traveller, and in 50 years she is has done a full circle of the globe.
She is was originally imported from the USA (non-battery model GS160)
and brought to Sandy at S.S Scooter in need of a full restoration a year ago.
But now she is heading back with her owner “Obie” to the UK to reside with his formidable collection of Lambretta’s.
Unfortunately, the hard-core Lambretta collector will not have time to be ribbed by his Lambretta riding mates in Oz
about his latest and  gorgeous  addition to his vintage stable. But I am sure I know a few boys in Blighty that will.
Farewell Graham O’brien you will be sorely missed. Safe travels and GodSpeed.

Vespa PX 215cc

From a Bondi Beach Bather to PX Street Burner.

Living it’s entire life by Bondi Beach without wearing any protection, this PX was suffering from an extreme case of cancer. With a rusted through frame it was time for me

to overhaul and save this Bondi Beach Bather.

The first job was weld in a new floor to re- strengthen this Vespa’s monocoque chassis .

Once the new floor was painstakingly welded into position, it was time to bring to fruition the tuning and customising concepts the customer dreamed of; from an enormous rear wide tyre conversion, to the 215 cc cylinder which was given the SS treatment flowing through a the stainless expansion pipe hanging off to the left, right down to the subtle CNC calliper to help her stop, are to name a few.

With a luscious coat of gun metal grey, this Vespa has been reborn; and she won’t be lazily sitting around Bondi Beach anymore, as she will be leaving our shores to burn up the winding roads of New Zealand.

Vespa PX 200 Street Racer

Friday feature scooter: Vespa PX 200 Street Racer (photographed by Wolfwerk Photography , built by SSScooter:

With an initial brief to turn his every day ride into a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”, this machine quickly went the opposite direction when just before the build the owner went for a “full-on” orange veneer.

With the stainless SIP expansion pipe hanging out the side, the Garelli carbon mudgard out front and the bright red Bitubos keeping her on the ground; all point directly that this is a wolf, inside and out.

She is definitely not disguising the fact that she is not only a tyre burner but also a work of street racer art to hit the roads from SS SCOOTER!

National Scooter Rally 2014 Jindabyne NSW Australia

The Canberra Swam Scooter Club proudly hosted this years National Scooter Rally with great success in Jindabyne. With gorgeous winding open alpine roads, beautiful scenery,  great tunes provided by Luke Alexander and Andy Jackson, and few good beers to top it all off,  all made for the perfect ingrediants for this  National which was held on Friday 7th to Monday the 10th of March 2014
As in previous years, all types of motor scooters were  welcome – geared or auto, vintage or contemporary, which attracted scooter riders from as far as Western Australia riding over 5000km to attend.

However it was at the Show and Shine that SS Scooter shone, humbly taking out
Best vintage scooter over 150cc,
Best Cusom Scooter and
Best Overall Scooter with Sandy’s Nitros Vespa.
And Scooter Fluer once again  took out Best Vintage 150cc scooter  with her famous Glitz   Vespa built proudly by Quite Mark in our workshop (with custom paintwork by Kyle Smith of Smith Concepts).
